Zeus High Polymer Set

I had been eyeing this set for some time. I finally pulled the trigger and bought this set. I really like the stone look to these pieces. The Green is like a Jade Green color which I really love. The other side is a Smokey Brown color. Isn't not as exciting as the Jade Green color but can't have both sides be Jade Green. It does the job though and it is the only set out there that has stone simulation looks. The main reason I bought the set. There is only one other set out there that has a stone/marble look. That is the old Cavalier sets back in the late 1960's. With the Cavalier sets. It is a hit or miss on eBay. Not to mention not having extra queens. The weight of the set is just right. I prefer this amount of weight over the other High Polymer sets in 3.75" bestchessset.com offers. This set is good for blitz due to the wide bases and the weights. There is one design I think really holds it back. That is the tops of the Rooks. Super thin and is vulnerable to snapping at this area. This is a reason I only gave this set a 4 star review instead of 5 stars. I would suggest using a red and white or buff roll up board for this set. Seems to give really good amount of contrast between the pieces and board. Blue I think would be another good contrasting board color as well. Just stay away from green or black roll up boards when using this set. I wish I could attach a picture of what this set looks like on my Red Leather full color print vinyl chessboard. This set and board combination is really nice. So if you like the odd unique looks chess sets. I would highly recommend getting the Zeus High Polymer chess pieces.
